Westminster Election. This print shows one of the lively election meetings which were normal for early nineteenth century elections. This election was taking place during the turbulent times prior to the passing of the Reform Act which radically changed the electoral system. Thomas Rowlandson captures the general volatility of the crowd while Pugin shows the architectural grandeur of the surrounding buildings.
