This hand coloured print is from "The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia" published in 1888. It shows that little changed in the centre of the city over the last 100 years until the recent earthquakes. The merged images show two of the stylish bridges over the River Avon. Hansom cabs have long since vanished but bicycles continue to be a convenient way of travelling round the city. A charming memory of the city.
