1772 Cook Chart of New Zealand (Coloured Reproduction)Antique Print Gallery
Lieut. James Cook was an expert cartographer as well as a skilled navigator and experienced ship's captain. Aboard his ship, the "Endeavour". he circumnavigated and charted the three islands. Although he made a few errors - he charted Banks Peninsula as an island and speculated that Stewart Island was a peninsula - the accuracy of his chart is outstanding. This reproduction is hand-coloured.
